An unstable time continues
To put it simply, this Wednesday, August 20, the unstable weather started this Tuesday will continue on most regions. And temperatures will continue to drop after the furnace of last week.
The majority of the country will be exposed to precipitation and sometimes to storm. “The thunderstorm rains will be particularly generous in the northeast quarter, notably Burgundy-Franche-Comté south of Champagne and east of Île-de-France,” warns the weather organization.
This Wednesday, August 20, 2025, the showers will linger throughout the day between the Pays de la Loire and La Franche-Comté, as well as the south of Alsace, with a stormy character locally to the east. Significant accumulation over time can be expected. And these thunderstorms will still concern one south-east quarter in the morning, and another storm package will win New Aquitaine by the Atlantic coast …
In the morning, this precipitation will extend to Normandy, Brittany and the Pays de la Loire, before thinning returned by the Channel in the afternoon. But in the Southeast, particularly in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and in Corsica, potentially strong risk of thunderstorms will threaten longer.
The drop in temperatures continues
Only the extreme north of the country is in reality good chances of staying away from precipitation. The drop in temperatures promises to be very clear this Wednesday afternoon, with 20 to 25 ° C in general, locally 26-28 ° C in the Mediterranean regions, and up to a little more than 30 ° C on the Var and especially Corsica.
And these rains, sometimes mixed with thunderstorms, will still be abundant and locally intense in the night of Wednesday to this Thursday, August 21 on Burgundy-Franche-Comté and the Grand Est, warns already Météo France. This precipitation will continue part of the day of this Thursday in the northeast of the country in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes with thunderstorms still possible in the afternoon.
It will be necessary to wait until Friday that the weather situation becomes calm again without dangerous phenomena envisaged, before the remains of Hurricane Erin come to invite itself in the weather forecast for next week …
