In documents disseminated under the Document access law what The newspaper was able to consult, we learn that Expoocité has used a contractual clause provided for all “activity that […] is likely to affect in a prejudicial manner [ses] interests or [sa] reputation ”in order to force the cancellation of the show.

In a letter addressed to the organization Burn 24/7, founded by Sean Feucht, the director of Expocité, Catherine Chénier, specifies that the show scheduled for July 25 “generates an important controversy and has consequences on the reputation of expocity”.

This is a bell sound different from what was initially advanced by the municipal administration when the show is canceled. A spokesperson for the city then said that Sean FEUCHT was simply not entered in the rental contract.

Described by media as an “Christian nationalist” increasingly influential among American Republicans, Sean Fecht had, before his visit to Quebec, to play on a historic Halifax site managed by Parcs Canada.

The federal organization had withdrawn its license, evoking “public security” issues since demonstrations had organized themselves on the sidelines of the concert.

Other shows by the controversial musician were subsequently canceled in Charlottetown, in Moncton and then in Gatineau.

He had finally been able to play in a church in the Plateau-Mont-Royal, in Montreal, despite a ban on the city.

More than a dozen complaints

In the documents unveiled by Quebec City, there are also 13 complaints formulated by citizens in connection with the show by Sean Fecht in Quebec.

We share in particular his “sexist” positions, his “opposition to the right to abortion” and his “anti-lgbtq” remarks.
