It is again a combine harvester in full battages which caused a culture fire this Sunday, July 13, 2025 at the level of the place called “La Chauvalière” in Latillé. The road was cut during the intervention of the firefighters. They were thirty, mobilized from 3:10 p.m. and from the centers of Poitiers, Neuville-de-Poitou, Latillé and Mirebeau, with a reinforcement of the center of Vasles in Deux-Sèvres.
A firefighter, who came from this neighboring department, victim of a hot stroke and the inhalation of smoke, had to be transported to the CHU de Poitiers.
Autized by a wind that was blowing hard this Sunday, the fire progressed quickly and destroyed fifteen hectares and several hedges bordering the road. The firefighters mastered it around 4:30 p.m., helped by farmers who went around the fire with shoeing meals and a team from the National Forest Office (ONF), driving a small water carrier.
Another high risk this Monday
The NFB was also present on Saturday, in Celle-Lévescault, where another thatched fire destroyed around thirty hectares and threatened for a time the state forest of Saint-Sauvant.
At the end of the day this Saturday, a second fire, of dry herbs, burned almost a hectare in Montmorillon and mobilized 15 firefighters.
This Monday, July 14, when the wind will not weaken, Vienne will be one of the three French departments (with Deux-Sèvres and Maine-et-Loire) still in orange, high risk to forest fires.
The road was cut because the fire won the hedges bordering it.
