A fire broke out in the morning of this Monday, August 4, in the EHPAD Saint-Jacques, in L’Isle-Jourdain in the Gers. Among the 81 people concerned, the emergency services count 17 intoxicated people, 3 of which are placed in absolute emergency. 70 firefighters were engaged.
A terrible fire took place on the night of Sunday to Monday in the Ehpad Saint-Jacques de l’Isle-Jourdain. According to the first elements reported by the Departmental Fire Fire Service of the Gers (SDIS 32), it would come from a mattress fire which was in a room located on the ground floor of this establishment occupied by more than 80 people at the time of the facts (75 residents and 6 staff of the EHPAD).
The balance sheet established by the emergency services reports 17 people poisoned by the smoke, 3 of which are considered in absolute emergency (two 85 -year -old men and an 86 -year -old woman). The latter were medicalized by the SMUR and evacuated to the Purpan hospital in Toulouse, in order to be placed in a hyperbaric box. Six other people were transported to hospitals, a total of nine evacuations.
25 vehicles, 70 firefighters
In total, no less than 25 vehicles and 70 firefighters were hired to turn off the fire and help victims, assisted in their task by the SMUR and the gendarmerie. “The establishment will not be exploitable at first given the damage caused by the fumes of the fire,” said Colonel out of class Jean-Louis Ferres, director of SDIS 32.
