Android will finally correct this annoying detail of wireless headphones

Android is about to improve battery display for connected wireless headphones. A more visual and clearer interface would be in preparation. Google hopes to fill its delay in the face of the exemplary integration of the AirPods on iOS.

Wireless headphones have become essential in the Android ecosystem. But unlike Apple AirPods, whose integration with iOS is fluid and intuitive, audio accessories management often remains incomplete on smartphones that turn with Google OS. The battery level display is sometimes confused or not very readable, even on recent models such as the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro. However, these details play a key role on a daily basis, especially to avoid unexpected cuts.

According to an analysis of the Android Authority site, extracted from the hidden code in an ongoing update from Google Play services, Google is preparing a Fast Pair overhaul, the Android System for Detection and Rapid Appairing of wireless headphones. You can see a new more readable and more complete interface for battery notifications. It would include circular colored progression bars, better positioned icons, as well as clear labels for each element: left earpiece, right earpiece and load box.

Fast peer will display colorful circular gauges to better follow the battery of wireless headphones

Until now, Fast Pair has been satisfied with a percentage displayed under each icon. The new version would go further: The circular progression bars would visually show the remaining level of charge of wireless headphoneswith a color that changes according to the threshold reached. The letters “L”, “R” and “C” (for Left, Right and Case) would clearly indicate to which component belongs to each data. This presentation should improve readability and avoid any confusion, especially when several devices are connected.

Google would also integrate a visual alert system: the bar would go to orange within 50 %, then red below 20 %. This type of display, inspired by what Apple already offers with its AirPods, would help users better anticipate recharges. Even if it is not an upheaval, this evolution would make fast peer much more practical. The deployment is not yet dated, but could intervene very soon. A discreet update, but which could make the difference on a daily basis.
