The Bistro Sua Coche de la Rue Saint-Vallier in the Saint-Sauveur district has closed its doors in the greatest discretion, while customers came to a door barred earlier this week.
At the door, on a poster formerly dedicated to opening hours, the inscription “closed definitively” is now there. The restaurant was known for its lunches and was the “darling” of local customers.
The sector is the subject of major projects for a second consecutive year, which inevitably leads to a drop in traffic among merchants. It was not possible to speak to the owner of the trade to find out the reasons for this closure, but according to the Saint-Sauveur Commercial Development Company (SDC), the work is undoubtedly for something.
“Unfortunately, it’s really a difficult moment that we live. It’s complicated and we are really sad for them, because we really thought it would work, “said the Director General of the SDC, Nadia Reghai Gagnon.
The news takes the SDC and many customers by surprise. Met last May, the owner of the restaurant, France Morin, admitted that the situation was not easy. Nevertheless, she encouraged the end of the work before her business which was scheduled for this month.
On social networks, a publication dating back to June 24 mentioned that the restaurant was open. Last year, the dining room had also been enlarged, in order to be able to accommodate greater customers.
According to Mme Reghai Gagnon, the Bistro Sua Coche benefited from a “well -established” clientele, after the closure of another restaurant focused on lunches which was on the same artery.
“They had a place to take,” she laments.
Several businesses have moved or closed their doors since the start of the work, on rue Saint-Vallier. The Le Griendel microbrewery left its premises to develop in the Montcalm district in 2024. The restaurants the blue foot as well as the fox and the owl closed their doors at the end of last summer.
