A success in all sectors of the game: the Swiss Football Association (ASF) welcomed a press conference on Tuesday devoted to the Euro balance sheet. At the same time, the ASF unveiled a plan for the next generation of women’s football without quantified funding.
Robert Breiter, secretary general of the ASF, presented the “Here to Stay” of the ASF and the Federal Sports Office (OFSPO), for the development of women’s football in Switzerland. Inspired by the English plan after Euro 2022, the ASF wants to double the number of licensees, coaches and female referees, and promote the accession of women in the governing bodies of football at all levels by 2027. The association also wants to double the “consumption” of the Women’s Super League (WSL), namely the entries at the stadium, the watching of matches on all platforms and Make the national team regularly qualify for major tournaments.
“This euro will not be just a shine, but will bring new perspectives”supports Sandra Felix, director of the OFSPO. In fact, the program aims above all to solve two problems encountered by the so -called “popular” female fooball: the provision of infrastructure and the lack of volunteers.

For infrastructure, the plan aims to include women’s football in club planning – changing rooms and land – in particular. On volunteering, the ASF will set up targeted measures such as training courses reserved for women in order to create a group spirit. “Currently in mixed training groups, it’s 2-3 women for 20 men” confirms Robert Breiter. The plan is not encrypted in terms of means or working hours.
Regarding elite sport and WSL, the ASF wants to rework the outline of the license in order to guarantee a “High level of infrastructure and play”. At the heart of a study currently conducted, the ASF also questions the interest of a “total or partial” relocation of WSL.
