If the weather was rather capricious during this summer, it will at least benefit beekeepers in the region. If it is still too early to draw up a quantified assessment due to a harvest season that plays extensions, one thing is certain: the year 2025 will be of good quality. According to the beekeeper of Wonderlier Véronique Froidevaux-Mertenat, she should not break records, but it will make it possible to erase the bad results of last year. “The season is not over yet, but I think it’s a happy new year. Beekeepers are happy because they can cover the costs of the years that has been less produced, ”she explains.
The reason for this happy new year is simple. “The weather dictates everything in beekeeping. The weather was nice. June was good. There was humidity in the morning and heat in the afternoon, which is excellent for flowers and biodiversity. So we were able to do spring honey, ”explains the specialist in wonders. According to Véronique Froidevaux-Metage, cooling in July did not pose too many problems. “The bees certainly ate a little honey during this period, but as they had enough, they were not hungry. They were able to harvest the fruit of their work, because some years it is we who nourishes them, ”she smiles. The harvest season also plays extensions with the heat wave of this early August. “The period is not so bad because there is good moisture on the ground in the morning. This also helps the development of aphids for honey honey (summer honey), ”adds the resident of Mervelier. /LGE
