The Civil Defense announced on Saturday the death of 39 Palestinians, including children, in the offensive on the territory ravaged by more than 22 months of war, where TSAhal is preparing first evacuations of civilians for his offensive announced in the city of Gaza.
(Keystone-ATS) Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal told AFP that a Gaza-Ville district in the north of the Palestinian and hungry Palestinian territory was subject to intense bombardments for almost a week.
“We believe that more than 50,000 people remain in the Zeitoun district, most of them without water or food,” he said, accusing Israel of “ethnic cleaning” in Zeitoun and in the neighboring district of Tal al-Hawa. “Our teams do not have access to the injured”.
According to Mr. Bassal, 30 Palestinians, including several children, were killed by the Israeli army shots and strikes in the Gaza Strip.
Among them, 21 Palestinians were killed nearly two humanitarian aid distribution centers in the south and north of the territory, he said. Six other Palestinians, three children, perished in two strikes on the Refugee camp in Bureij (center) and the Al-Mawassi (South) area.
The Israeli army has questioned these figures, affirming to AFP that “the institutions in Gaza are controlled and led by Hamas and therefore subject to its agenda”.
They are “known to record deaths unrelated to the conflict, such as natural deaths”, and their data is “filled with inconsistencies and erroneous affirmations”, without distinction between “civil and terrorist losses”, she added.
“Forgotten what sleep is”
The spokesman, as he has been doing for almost a week now, has alarmed Israeli army operations in the city of Gaza. “The inhabitants have no place to take refuge. The situation is catastrophic. “
Ghassan Kashko, 40, a resident of Gaza-Ville lives with his family in a school where others moved.
“We have forgotten what sleep is. The air raids and chariot shots do not stop. (…) We no longer have food or drinking water, “he told AFP on the phone.
A source at the Interior Ministry linked to Hamas in Gaza declared that “the occupant continues a land military operation in the areas of Zeitoun and Tal al-Hawa”. The Israeli army has destroyed “dozens of houses and roads”, according to this source.
Israel said it was preparing to take control of Gaza-Ville and neighboring refugee camps with the displayed goal of defeating Hamas and freeing the hostages removed on October 7, 2023 during the unprecedented attack on the Palestinian Islamist movement in Israel, which sparked the war.
Evacuations
On Friday, the army confirmed that its troops were led a series of operations on the outskirts of the city of Gaza, where residents have reported intense strikes and incursions on the ground for several days.
On Saturday evening, the COGAT, an organization dependent on the Ministry of Defense and in charge of civil affairs in the Palestinian territories, announced that “tents and other shelter equipment will be provided from tomorrow Sunday as part of the preparations for TSAhal to move the population of the combat zones to the south of the Gaza band for their protection”.
“The aid will be transferred via the crossing point of Kerem Shalom (South of Gaza) by the UN and international organizations, after an in -depth security inspection,” said the Cogat.
