Belgian football in danger? The CEO of the Union goes up to the niche – all football

The new season of Jupiler Pro League is starting with the Antwerp match against the Union. A lot of changes have taken place and this season, fans will no longer follow their team as before.

Currently, the matches are no longer broadcast live TV on Telenet, Proximus or TV Vlaanderen.

Dazn, who holds TV rights, did not agree with Belgian operators to broadcast the matches on their channels. The result? The first day will only be visible on the Dazn application.

A pro league accessible to all

“We hope that the situation will quickly unlock. Football must remain easily accessible. It is not good for our sport,” said Philippe Bormansthe CEO of the Union Saint-Gilloise, in an interview granted to Sporza.

Bormans cross their fingers so that it goes faster this time. “It is important that fans can continue to follow their team. Belgian football is a product that we can be proud of.”
