A 4.2 earthquake was felt near Interlaken
The earth trembled in Mürren (Be) on Monday, tremors could be felt throughout the country.

The Bernese Oberland was shaken on Monday. Shortly before 1 p.m., an earthquake of a magnitude of around 4.2 on the Richter scale occurred near Mürren (BE), not far from Interlaken, according to the Swiss seismological service (SED) of the EPFZ. The shock “could be felt throughout Switzerland”, specifies the SED.
In the hours following the earthquake, more than 400 testimonies were collected On the SED website. A journalist present near Interlaken also declared at “20 minutes“:” Everything trembled. We felt it very strongly here. ” No one injured is to be deplored, even if this type of shaking can cause minor damage, such as cracks on the walls.
This earthquake could be followed by aftershocks in the days or weeks to come. A precursor earthquake of magnitude 2.3 had also been recorded in Mürren the previous week, while a more marked earthquake, of magnitude 3.5, had been observed last September in the Bernese Oberland, a very active region on the seismic level.
