To help the inhabitants of Blatten in difficulty, the Federal Council suspends their prosecution
After the release of 5 million, the government validated new financial assistance for the inhabitants.

The village of Blatten, in Valais, was struck last May by a massive landslide, caused by the partial collapse of the Birch glacier.

All recovery procedures against the inhabitants of the village of Blatten, destroyed on May 28are suspended, said the Federal Council. In a statement published this Wednesday, he recalls that the landslide that destroyed the village of the Lötschental “is one of the most serious natural disasters that has affected Switzerland in recent decades”.
So, After unlocking emergency aid at 5 million francsit is a new help measure that is formalized this Wednesday. The suspension of all the procedures of prosecution (in progress or to come) is however temporary. It is in force for the period from May 28 to October 31. During this time, no recovery measure can be undertaken towards the inhabitants of Blatten.
The Federal Council thus validates the exceptional measure decided on June 20 by the Valais Council of State.
Other suspensions have already taken place
Swiss law Allows a suspension of prosecution in the event of specific situations, such as a natural disaster, an epidemic or a war. This provision has also already been used in the past, especially after the 2005 floods in the canton of Obwald and those of 1993 in Brig.
