The American aeronautical manufacturer Boeing published Tuesday a net loss divided by two in the second quarter at 697 million dollars (562 million francs), less dug than market expectations, in a “changing global environment”.
(Keystone-ATS) Kelly Ortberg, in charge since August 2024 of the aircraft manufacturer, which then crossed a deep crisis, insisted in a message to employees on the faster than expected improvement of the situation and on the fact that the group was in a stabilization phase.
Between April and June, Boeing achieved a turnover of $ 22.75 billion, 35% more than during the same period of the previous year.
The group had at the time given a brake on its production, and therefore to its deliveries, after an incident in January 2024 on a 737 max 9 of the Alaska Airlines company which had lost a piece of fuselage shortly after takeoff, leaving a gaping hole.
However, it receives around 60% of the price of planes when he gives them to their owner.
The net loss of the second quarter appears at $ 697 million, against a net loss of 1.44 billion a year earlier.
“Customer confidence”
Reported by action and excluding exceptional elements -reference value for markets -, it is $ 1.24. The consensus of FactSet analysts awaited it at 1.40 dollars and awaited turnover of 22.15 billion.
“Together, we have won important victories illustrating our customers’ confidence in our products and services,” said Ortberg in his message to employees.
“Change takes time but we start to see the difference in our performances through the group,” he said, adding that the group was heading “in the right direction and in advance on where I thought we would be in our convalescence”.
