The allocations for runners of the Tour de France female are still very far from those for men but they are increasing. The next winner, Sunday in Châtel, will receive a bonus of 50,000 euros, ten times lower than that of Tadej Pogacar among men.
Raising earnings but still very far from those of men. For the 2025 edition of the Tour de France female, the organizers have planned an overall bonus envelope of more than 260,000 euros in (264,520 euros exactly). The final winner will pocket 50,000 euros, ten times less than Tadej Pogacar, crowned with men last Sunday for the fourth time in her career. His runner -up will receive 25,000 euros and the third 10,000 euros.
“The Tour de France Men lasts three weeks, the Tour de France women 9 days”
“We must realize that female cycling, four years ago, was nonexistent,” recently recalled Marion Rousse, director of the MEDIA Clapping test. “There was no salary. The girls were professional but they had to work in the afternoon to earn a salary.” The French Road Champion (2012) underlines another point in this game of comparisons. “We took the race Tour de France men which lasts three weeks with the Tour de France women which lasts 9 days of racing. Obviously we must compare what is comparable,” she insists.
This envelope, upwards, thus offers 4,000 euros to each stage winner and a decreasing bonus at the first 20. The distinctive jersey carriers each affect 100 euros per step. At the end of the Tour de France, 3,000 euros will be allocated for the firsts of the rankings of the green jersey, with red and white dots. The super combative will leave with 2,000 euros and the best team with 6,000 euros.
Pretty bonuses that complement another advance in professional female cycling, the implementation of a minimum wage of 38,000 euros annually gross for the World Tour teams, according to the last hour. It is 20,000 euros annually for the Pro Team teams (D2), but will increase to 24,000 euros in 2027. According to the union of runners, the cyclists’ Alliance, the average salary was 40,000 euros in 2024.
