CAC 40: carried by hopes of truce in Ukraine, the Paris Stock Exchange rises

(BFM Stock Exchange) – The CAC 40 clearly advances at mid -session of this Thursday, August 7, while the Kremlin indicated that a meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump was scheduled for the coming days. Which leads to truce hopes.

The CAC 40 accelerates this Thursday, August 7. The Parisian index advances 1.2% at mid-session, at 7,729.24 points, while the American customs duties have now entered into force.

If investors continue to carefully follow the announcements linked to this subject, it is another file which explains the market increase.

The Kremlin confirmed this Wednesday that a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin, and his American counterpart, Donald Trump, was scheduled for the coming days on Wednesday, which “increases the hopes of a truce in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine,” said Bloomberg.

Defense in hard, ArcelorMittal in Metal Metal Hard

The day before, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Moscow seemed “more inclined” to a cease-fire.

Following these announcements, the defense values give in ground. Thales lost 2.7% accusing the strongest withdrawal of the CAC 40 while Dassault Aviation abandoned 1.2%. “The big titles on a ceasefire in Ukraine do not help, on the contrary,” confirms an analyst.

More broadly, the renewed appetite for the risk penalizes defensive values, Engie (-1.6%), orange (-0.9%) and Danone (-0.7%) evolving in the red.

Cyclical values, on the contrary, jump. In particular the car groups, Renault took 2.9% and Stellantis advances 2.8% when Saint-Gobain won 2.9%.

The highest increase in CAC 40 is however signed ArcelorMittal (+6.8%) the steel owner with a site in the Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih.

Accor earns 3.8% carried by press information evoking a potential IPO of its subsidiary Enismore in the United States. Information that the group did not wish to comment on BFM Bourse.

Valneva took 4.3% after the United States raised restrictions on the group’s anti-chikungunya vaccine.

In the other markets, the euro is stable against the dollar at 1.1667 dollars. Oil is advancing a little. The October Brent of the Northern Sea contract takes 0.7% to 67.38 Dollars per barrel that on WTI listed in New York takes 0.75% at 64.84 dollars per barrel.
