Café Anselme: madness since the review of Olivier Primeau

Since Olivier Primeau has come to taste the Putin of the Café Anselme de Victoriaville, on August 7, it is madness in the small restaurant located at the corner of rue Laurier and boulevard des Bois-Francs Sud. So much so that the owner, Gaétane Fortier, no longer has time to take a break.

Already that she worked from 5 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., to provide service to her well -established customers, the arrival of several more people who are curious to taste this Putin sauce that the entrepreneur noted on social networks, fulfills his days well. “It is a great experience to live,” she explains when she finished lunch and was already preparing for those in the evening.

It must be said that the restaurant obtained a very nice note from the businessman. Indeed, he allocated a 9.4 out of 10 in the Putin (he particularly appreciated the sauce) that he came to taste on Monday while the restaurant is usually closed that day (as well as Tuesday). “Five minutes after his note was put online, the phone started ringing,” said Gaétane.

Since then, she no longer has time to eat (she drinks shakes protein) so the place is busy. “It no longer unrolls,” she says, adding that it complicates her food orders that are no longer enough on demand. “There is even a customer who has done an hour to come and eat a poutine,” she said.

They all of course want to taste this sauce, whose recipe comes from the first owner of the place, Anselme Brulotte, as she explains. Subsequently, this secret recipe was sent from owner to owner to Gaétane. The latter has offered it for 25 years now, scrupulously repeating that of origin. “People ask me for a poutine with Olivier sauce,” she said, laughing.

This craze, the fruit of social networks, also means that customers almost exclusively control Putin when they come to the Anselme coffee and queues sometimes form to the outside. “I do not serve almost any more menu of the day, except for regulars,” she notes.

Of course, this spontaneous reputation, which, according to her should last just a few weeks (until a new recommendation is published), is well appreciated, even if it requires a lot of work.

If several people discover the Anselme coffee for a few days, the regulars, for their part, are a little disappointed that the restaurant, a secret well kept so far, is as much frequented. They will have to wait a bit before resuming their habits.

A beautiful energy reigns in this restaurant, which is part of the landscape of the Arthabaska sector for decades. Probably the enthusiasm and dedication of the owner has something to do with it. However, the latter indicates that its restaurant is for sale. “I still like it, but it’s very addictive. I’m there from the opening to the closure,” said the one who is the only stove in the place before returning to her cauldons.
