The Canada Rugby Women’s Rugby team started its South African tour by signing a 50-20 victory over the Springboks women’s team on Saturday afternoon at the Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.
Saturday, July 5, 2025 (Pretoria, South Africa)-The Canada Rugby Women’s team started its South African tour by signing a 50-20 victory on the Springboks women’s team on Saturday afternoon, at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.
Appointed game player, Florence Symonds led Canadian troops on the field, notably with the support of Alysha Corrigan, each marking two trials to register 20 points in this victory. Julia Schell’s kicks, author of five conversions over eight attempts added 10 points in total.
The first half was marked by Symonds’ first international trial for the Canadian rugby team at 15, and this ninth career match. This test was registered in the 29th minute, then providing an advance of 19-3 in Canada that the visitors increased to 26-3 before the whistle announcing half-time.
After scoring four trials in the first 40 minutes of the game, Canada doubled this total with four other trials in the second. Symonds added his second trial of the meeting, Corrigan scored twice and Caroline Crossley, in her fifth career match, added her first trial for the training at 15 of Canada in the last minute of play.
“We have made a big effort,” said Symonds after the meeting. We were reduced to 14 players at one point so we had to overcome this challenge, but we were ready and prepared for this situation. I am very proud of this team, we supported each other. ”
After entering the second half’s match, Holly Phillips in Canmore played a first international match for Canada. Tyson Beukeboom[pg1] the active player with the greatest number of selections in the Canadian women, crossed the 75 international games on Saturday, making an appearance in the 64th minute of play as a substitute.
Fancy Bermudez, who was dismissed from the game during the meeting due to an injury had to be released on a stretcher as a precaution. She has since received the medical green light to return to the game and she joined the group after the meeting.
