The number of vacant housing in the canton of Vaud decreases
Vaud provisionally records only 0.89% of vacant housing in 2025. Significant disparities exist between the canton districts.

The number of vacant housing decreased compared to last year in the canton of Vaud, on June 1, 2025, 3932 dwellings were announced vacant in the canton, of which 1,173 available only for sale.
Compared to last year, the number of vacant housing drops by 270 units (190 objects for rent and 80 intended for sale), written statistical Vaud Tuesday in a press release. The provisional rate amounts 0.89% to June 1, 2025 and will be final at the end of the year.
Canton districts live contrasting situations. The rate is the lowest in the district of Western Lausanne with 0.47% of vacant housing and then in the Lausanne district with 0.63%. The highest rates are observed in Nyon districts with 1.37% and eagle with 1.36%, written statistical Vaud Tuesday in a press release.
Compared to last year, the vacant housing rate decreases in the districts of the Vaudois Jura-Nord, Eagle, Lavaux-Oron, Morges and the Broye-Vully. It is stable for districts, from Lausanne and the Western Lausanne. It increases in the districts of Gros-de-Vaud, the Riviera-Pays-d’Enhaut and Nyon.
Other stastistics
Most vacant housing are three rooms (1007 units) or four rooms (860 units). Compared to the previous year, the number of vacant dwellings decreases for housing from one to five rooms and increases for the six rooms and more (+26 units).
The rate of vacant housing is the mathematical relationship between the number of housing offered for sale or rental and the entire housing fleet on December 31, 2024, recalls Statistics Vaud.
The survey on vacant industrial and commercial premises, carried out jointly with that on vacant housing, figures at 285,288 m² the vacant industrial and commercial areas available in the canton, against 201,826 m² in 2024.
