Confirmation of a case of Aboriginal chikungunya

Health – Transmitted by the title mosquito, the virus was found Tuesday Claix (Isère) on a patient who has not traveled in a contaminated country

On Tuesday, the Regional Health Agency (ARS) confirmed an indigenous case of Chikungunya in Claix (Isère), in the Grenoble agglomeration. According to France 3 Auvergne Rhone-Alpes, this is the first contamination in the department concerning a patient who has not traveled in a contaminated country.

In order to avoid any epidemic, a demoustication operation, targeting larval lodges and adult mosquitoes, took place in the sector on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday. In his press release, the ARS said that the patient had not traveled in a contaminated area during the days before the appearance of symptoms.

High fever and muscle pain

A tiger mosquito bite, infected with the virus, is enough to contaminate a human. After a first indigenous case in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region on June 24 in Montoison (Drôme), the virus continues its establishment in France. The ARS calls on citizen vigilance in order to alert from the first signs of possible contamination. A high fever, more than 38.5, muscle pain, joint pain, back pain, or even a rash, are all symptoms that can appear.

In the meantime, the demospective operation continues to limit the risk of transmission. An epidemiological survey is also carried out by ARS and Public Health France.
