Corus Entertainment ceases the distribution of five children’s chains later this summer, the broadcaster continuing to face difficulties of advertising revenue.
The company announced on Friday by press release that it would no longer distribute the ABC Spark, Nickelodeon channels, the Disney channel (in French), Disney XD and Disney Jr. from 1is september.
A spokesperson explains that this decision follows an “in-depth analysis” of the Corus channel portfolio, taking into account “the evolution of the needs of [son] public and [ses] distribution partners ”.
Corus says she will continue to exploit the Disney Channel on her continuous television and listening platforms.
Last month, the company announced that it has reduced its salary costs by 7 % during its last quarter. She says she continues to seek savings in a context of drop in advertising revenues.
The chief executive officer, John Gossling, told analysts that Corus anticipates a drop of approximately 20 % of his television advertising revenue from the previous year for the current quarter, due to the persistence of geopolitical and economic uncertainty.
