Firmness: this is what most Swiss want against Donald Trump and his heavy customs duties, reveals a Yougov survey carried out in early August and relayed by the ATS. Almost two thirds of the Swiss believe that the country should not give in, even if it causes taxes up to 39% and other serious economic complications, we read on the site of the site RTS. Only a minority (25%) would like Switzerland to make concessions to appease tensions with Washington.
Almost half of respondents also believe that Switzerland should bet more on its own products, even if it means paying the price. In addition, 41% disapprove of Swiss investments in the United States. Note that these positions are shared beyond the partisan cleavages. On the other hand, the question of relations with the European Union continues to divide according to more classic fault lines, namely the UDC on the one hand and the rest of the political class on the other.
