A confirmed case of Dengue in the Saint-Julien district mobilizes the health authorities. A targeted demustication is scheduled that night to stop the threat of tiger mosquito in the Loire.
A case of dengue, viral disease transmitted by the tiger mosquito, was confirmed to Saint-Chamond, in the Saint-Julien district. The Regional Health Agency (ARS) Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, in connection with its operator EIRAD, immediately launched a prevention procedure. The field survey, carried out around the places frequented by the infected person, made it possible to locate areas at risk in a nearby perimeter.
A programmed demoustic this night
To avoid any local transmission of the virus, a demoustication operation will take place during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. This shock treatment aims to reduce the population of adult mosquitoes in the identified area. The intervention is part of a reactive strategy deployed systematically as soon as a case of dengue, Chikungunya or Zika is reported. The objective: to prevent the tiger mosquito from settled in the Loire department permanently.
