The Galaxy Z Fold 7 was to be the finest smartphone of the moment, competitors cut the grass under the foot. Above all, he will not be the most resistant in the band and that is more annoying.
July 9 is fast approaching. This is this day that Samsung has chosen to hold its Galaxy Unpacked Estival.
Among the new features, we will discover the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7 Fe and potentially a Trifold smartphone.
Regarding the Galaxy Z Fold 7, we already know almost everything about him. Samsung has finally decided to review its design so that it is competitive on finesse. Exit the bricks of the past years, the Z Fold 7 should measure 8.9 mm in folded thickness and 4.1 mm when it is open. These are not the finest dimensions since Honor does better with his Magic V5 and the 8.8 mm of his white version.
But at 0.1 mm, it is only a marketing battle. Samsung has for him the strength of a well -established ecosystem and a very strong brand in the minds of consumers who will go more easily to him than to his Chinese competitors.
However, there is an aspect for which the latter would be more interesting: waterproofing.
An unchanged IP certification
According to the Leaker Pandaflashx, the Z Fold 7 would keep its IP48 index. This guarantees very good waterproofing to water since it could survive an immersion of 30 minutes to 1.5 meters deep. But it is its resistance to dust that is more embarrassing. The figure “4” means a “Protection against solid particles with a diameter of 1 mm or more”. It’s very large 1 mm.
On the side of the Magic V5, Honor noted his sustainability sheet with a double index IP58 and IP59. It is thus protected against dust particles without minimal diameter and adds a level to its liquid seal since it can resist “With high temperature and pressure water jets, washing or steam cleaning procedures”. Not everyone passes their smartphone to the machine, but the V5 parent with any possibility.
Let us add that the Honor smartphone has also been reworked at the level of its hinge which can take 500,000 manipulations, against 200,000 for the Galaxy Z Fold 6. It even has a detection system of Debris based on the AI in order to protect its internal screen if foreign bodies are dragging it.
If on paper, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 finally brings a little freshness in the range, it could sin by a lack of resistance, an element oh so essential on a foldable smartphone. Answer on July 9.
