Digital identity “is a great danger for the freedom of Swiss citizens” told Bern Nils Fiechter, president of young Swiss UDC and member of the referendum committee against the law on electronic identity, subject to the people on September 28.
For them, the law will create the basics of a commercial use of electronic identity, which will allow in particular large technological groups to demand an E-ID in exchange for their services.
An E-ID is not necessary to carry out administrative procedures, according to opponents of the text. They cite in particular the AGOV platform, the authentication service of the Swiss authorities which works without digital identity.
The “Law on E-ID NO” committee is piloted by Swiss digital integrity and notably brings together the UDF, the young UDC, the friends of the Constitution and Aufrecht. (AG/ATS)

The Federal Council’s project to grant more flexibility to the Post Office is combated. The criticisms aim to relax the delivery times for letters and packages, and the end of the obligation to distribute in isolated areas.
The partial revision of the Post Office should allow the yolk giant to save up to 45 million francs per year from 2026. This should guarantee the financing of the universal serviceaccording to the Federal Council.
