Drilling work for the third link in a residential area of Sillery caused surprise and concern among citizens.
On rue Mont-Saint-Denis, where the opulent residences align, a drill is taking soil samples, in the sector where the bridge of the future third link could lead and where the tunnel will be engulfed in the cliff.
A worried citizen reported the presence of the equipment and the work. The newspaper was able to confirm to the Ministry of Transport that these were drilling in anticipation of the third link.

This resident, who preferred not to be appointed, said he was surprised to see a drill on the heritage site of Sillery. “I’m a little stunned in this whole story.”
“A tunnel on the cliff, it will make noise in the residential districts, and the Bois-de-Coulonge Park which is right there. There is the whole question of view from the park and the cliff. It is a big deal that we come to put in the city center. Yes, there are a lot of concern. ”
“It is noise, inconvenience, stress that is considered to be waste of public funds to flow ink and say that the project is advancing. It’s bizarre to do these studies, ”said he.
Not aware
In the neighborhood, the citizens met were not aware of the content of the work. “And they didn’t think they would warn us?” We were not informed, we are not aware at all, ”reacted a lady, learning the reason for the presence of the machinery.
“We don’t want it, a bridge,” said another resident, who says he has difficulty understanding where the Legault government leaves with this project. “It’s worrying, for a year and a half, they have completely lost the orientation.”

At the Ministry of Transport, it is indicated that the work is part of a campaign which will have around fifty drilling in order to “characterize the geology of the surroundings within the corridor which was retained for the construction of a third link between Quebec and Lévis”. The final layout is not yet known.
Impact
If the citizens have not been notified, it is that “these are work that is not very disturbing and little present in time”, at most three days, which has little impact on traffic, underlines the ministry.
“We understand the concerns expressed by these citizens,” said the office of Minister Geneviève Guilbault. “However, it is important to recall that the Ministry of Transport is regularly studying soil like these. The location of the boreholes has also been determined to limit the impacts on the middle and traffic as much as possible. ”
