Drome. A case of dengue detected in Romans-sur-Isère, the tiger mosquito in the crosshairs

This is not an exceptional case but always an emergency. A person returned from the West Indies was detected of the Dengue virus in Romans-sur-Isère. This is not a suspected case like Aboriginal as in Montoison, but to limit their spread, health authorities must intervene quickly. A treatment for adult tigers mosquitoes will be carried out on the night of Thursday, June 26 to Friday, June 27 by the Rhône-Alpes interdepartmental agreement of Demoustication (EIRAD), around the places frequented by the patient within a radius of approximately 150 meters around the rue Admiral Courbet.

The inhabitants located within the perimeter are informed, for their part, of the realization of this treatment by means of a flyer, deposited in their mailbox and/or displayed, according to the specificities of their accommodation (individual houses or collective habitats) 24 hours before the intervention.

The objective is to prevent a possible spread of the virus. Dengue, also called “tropical flu”, is an infectious disease caused by the virus of the same name. The virus is transmitted to humans by mosquitoes of the genus Aedes. The incidence of dengue is currently progressing very importantly, and today registers it to the ranks of so-called “re-emerging” diseases.
