The main European scholarships resume their breath and are down at the start of the session on Monday, after the speech of the President of the American Federal Reserve (Fed), in Jackson Hole, who helped strengthen the anticipations of a drop in rates in September in the United States.

In Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.41% to 7,937.34 points around 07:03 GMT and in Frankfurt, the DAX decreases by 0.53%. The London Stock Exchange is closed today due to a public holiday.

The Eurostoxx 50 index is down 0.38%, the FTSEURofirst 300 fell 0.31%and the Stoxx 600 abandons 0.27%.

Friday, the president of the Fed, Jerome Powell, spoke of a possible drop in rates at the meeting of the Central Bank of September, without having made a firm commitment, recognizing the growing risks for the labor market while affirming that the possibility of higher inflation persisted.

The president of the New York Fed, John Williams, must speak later on Monday, and investors will be attentive to his words to know if he shares the vision of Jerome Powell in matters of monetary policy.

At the values, in Paris, Valneva, red lantern of the SBF 120, abandons 26.46% after having announced on Monday that the American health authority, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), had suspended the license of its vaccine against chikungunya Ixchiq in the United States, after new cases of serious undesirable effects.

Elsewhere in Europe, JDE Peet’s takes 17.78% after Keurig Dr Pepper announced the acquisition of the Dutch group for 15.7 billion euros.

Orsted abandons 18.22% after receiving the Trump administration order to end the very advanced construction of an offshore wind project near Rhode Island, a decision that is likely to worsen the financial difficulties of the company.
