German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt said on Sunday that his country was to “deepen” his support for Israel against Iran by visiting an impact site for recent Iranian attacks south of Tel Aviv.

This is the first high-level diplomatic visit to Israel since the 12-day war with Iran, which ended with a cease-fire on June 24.
“We must deepen our support for Israel,” Dobrindt said in the middle of the rubble in this inhabited district of Bat Yam, where several people died, including three children.
The German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, estimated on June 17, on the sidelines of the G7, that Israel did “the dirty work […] For all of us ”by targeting Iranian nuclear capacities. These statements had been criticized in his country.

In Iran, Israeli strikes killed at least 627 civilians and made nearly 4,900 injured, according to an official assessment.
