METEO – Maximum risk. The Aude department will be on red vigilance at forest fires on Tuesday, August 5, with a risk “Very high” Fire, Météo-France announced on Monday, August 4. “In a hot and dry atmosphere, with tramontane, the danger of fires will be very high on the Aude this Tuesday”explains Météo-France.

According to the forecaster, the tramontane will generate “Rafales at 50-70 km/h”. In total, nine departments in the south of France will be vigilant orange – “High risk” Fire-Tuesday August 5: Haute-Garonne, Tarn-et-Garonne, Pyrénées-Orientales, Hérault, Gard, Drôme, Vaucluse, Bouches-du-Rhône and Var.

In half the summer season, civil security has already recorded more than 15,000 hectares burned on the national territory for 9,000 fire departures since the start of the year, mainly on the Mediterranean coast.

The risk of fire will tend to increase during the week with a gradual increase in temperatures, especially in the southwest and the Rhône valley. “We cannot exclude that part of the southwest can go into a vigilance orange heat wave”the forecreen Jérôme Lecou told AFP. “But there are still uncertainties about what can happen at the weekend”et “For the moment, we do not anticipate something of the magnitude of what we knew in July, far from it”.

Météo-France models are indeed drawing “Uncertain scenario for the weekend”although the privileged option remains at this stage the maintenance of a mass of hot air in the Southwest, where temperatures will reach 34 to 35 ° C, with points from 36 to 38 ° C, specifies Mr. Lecou.

The fresh air present in northern France due to a depression up to Scotland could however move to the south and contribute, if it was, to refresh half of France.

Since the beginning of the summer, several fires have intervened in the Aude, affected by drought and the hot weather. One of them, at the beginning of July, the most important in the department since 1986, had traveled 2,000 hectares and mobilized nearly 1,000 firefighters near Narbonne.
