Doubt is lifted. As it had been expected for several days, Peter Zeidler (62) is the new coach of Lausanne-Sport. The German was free since last fall and the end of his short adventure in the Bundesliga, in Bochum, where he only run 8 games. He will enter into office on Monday, on the occasion of the resumption of training at the tuilière.

“With his rich experience, his cutting -edge knowledge of the Swiss championship and the successes he has known, Peter is for the benefit of real legitimacy for this position,” reacts through a statement, LS sports director Stéphane Henchoz, adding: “He was our first choice”.

Peter Zeidler takes over from Ludovic Magnin, who left for FC Basel after three seasons marked by a return to the Super League and the qualification for the 2nd preliminary round of the Conference League, obtained last month. A form of culmination on which his successor will have to build to continue the progress of the club.

Choosing a strong game identity

The choice of Zeidler is a strong indicator. “With this appointment, FC Lausanne-Sport reaffirms its desire to develop an attractive game, turned towards the offensive, with which the Vaudois public identifies with the ambition of integrating and developing young talents”, communicates the LS.

Peter Zeidler is preparing to live his third experience on a bench in Switzerland. The first, in Sion, lasted only one season in 2016-2017. The next one, on the other hand, allowed him to settle in the landscape of the Super League permanently. In Saint-Gall, where he officiated from 2018 to 2024, the native of Schwäbisch Gmünd led 242 games. Advocating spectacular football, based on intensity, pressing and fast projections forward, he notably led embroiderers to 2nd place in the championship in 2020 and two finals – lost – of Switzerland Cup, in 2021 and 2022.

“I am extremely happy and motivated to join FC Lausanne-Sport,” says the newcomer. With club leaders, we have the conviction that I can carry out the LS project. I can’t wait to get to work, I lacked the ground. ”
