The young detainee who escaped Corbas prison on Friday was found and arrested on Monday morning in a cellar in Sathonay-Camp, north of Lyon, according to a declaration of the prosecution reported by France Info.
Elyazid A. escaped the Corbas prison on Friday, in the south-east of the Lyon agglomeration, during the liberation of his co-detained. He would have hidden in a sports bag supposed to contain his belongings.
A spectacular escape
The penitentiary authorities of Lyon-Corbas had not noticed the disappearance of Elyazid A. until the day after his escape, when he missed. A red notice from Interpol was then issued for its arrest.
The young Frenchman from Mayotte was imprisoned as part of a judicial information for murder in an organized gang and offense on arms legislation.
The administration of the Lyon-Corbas prison claims to have “Immediately open” An internal investigation to determine the circumstances of this escape and declares that it will take “All disciplinary measures that are necessary“.
According to a source cited by France Info, Elyazid A. “Take advantage of the release of his co-led to slip into one of the latter’s bags and thus escape the vigilance of the guards”.
The man in question was not present during the arrest on Monday morning and actively sought for complicity in escape, says the Lyon prosecution.
The authorities also claim that “No one was injured” and that Elyazid A. is currently in police custody for “Chiefs of escape in organized gang and participation in an association of criminals”.
