“Intrepid”, the Biennale des Art in Geneva settles in the building
From August 21 to 31 at Bois de la Bâtie, La Big celebrates its ten years of existence in a 6e Abundant edition rich in sound surprises.
The Bois de la Bâtie is preparing to welcome the 6th edition of the Biennale des Espaces d’Art de Genève.

- The independent art spaces of art invests the wood of the building with more than a hundred creations.

The BIG is back from August 21 to 31, and this time she seizes Bois de la Bâtie, after Rousseau Island in 2021 and the pearl of the lake in 2023. For the ten years of the event, this 6e Edition gives pride of place to the imagination of the forest and the sweetness of vegetable peace, with more than a hundred creations taking place in a living art village. Performances, songs, dances, discussions, installations … “Here, art thinks is a way of taking care, doing community, daring and sharing its practices in an unstable world”, shares the Big team.
Listen to music with his teeth
The Bois de la Bâtie will therefore anticipate creativity, and welcome art passionaters like simple onlookers. As usual, the Big will burn 360 degrees, from a simple general ride to a millimeter inspection of the works offered by local and national collectives. To facilitate this trip between creations, the Big team will offer four thematic routes: forest, care and care, fearless and sound. Each with their share of artistic projects in a dense and multidisciplinary program.
Speaking of the program, some elements promise to be particularly interesting. Starting with “Murmeli”, from After Yodel Club, an interactive installation in the form of a giant wooden marmot, which using a sound device will be aimed at rodents of the Bâtie. In another register, the Amalthea association will offer “FM lollipops” allowing to listen to music with its teeth, the sound waves diffusing through the bones of the skull.
Another project that may flatter the ear in a very different way, the installation “Are you receiving?” From the Klang collective, which will be dotted in various places in the big. Several metal pavilions will broadcast waves from Suze Amen radio as well as, surprised, Airport VHF waves and Geneva seagulls.
In front of the Sadara refreshment bar, pavilions will sparse the plain of wood.

This intriguing acoustic focus is obviously only a small part of what the big will offer. Let us not forget to quote the multiple workshops, spaces, moments of exchanges and even meals that will garnish the program.
For night owls
At nightfall, the Biennale will offer creations for the curious ready to start a trip in the shade. By way of opening, the arboretum will produce a spectacle made up, among other things, of concerts, drag, clown and even a cornemuse show. Another evening, the at Duplex team will offer a participatory performance under the theme of “Grand Surdese”.
In short, a whole nice program that will take care of during the last half of August. A advice to take advantage of it: dare to enter the pavilions, it is worth the detour.
