The young people of the caves invest their neighborhood for a month

“Come and bring the neighborhood to life with us!” Here is the call launched by the Association of Youth of the Grottes which builds and animates this Friday, June 27, a boxing ring, at the back of the Cornavin station. A boxing ring? “It is a dating platform that is so called, because it takes the form of a ring,” nuance Janna, member of the association’s committee. For a month, residents are invited to invest “The ring of the cavesAnd its fitted surroundings, located in the parking lot that runs along the rue des Amis, opposite the Pachinko.
“This car park is perceived as badly famed, but we love it,” says Virginia, also a member of the committee. It is the line of union of several places of life that the population frequents. We must rethink this meeting space and not leave the feeling that it is and that it must be unoccupied. ”
On the program: life and freedom
“Some Ring projects are still being permitted, but it should be noted that the goal is that the inhabitants (Ré) positively invest this space and offer or take the activities they wish,” explains Sasha, a member of the committee.
The wooden platform will be reasonably modular and will notably allow combat sports or project films. Maybe women’s matches maybe? “Not sure we have the rights,” laughs the group. In addition to sports activities “which federate youth a lot”, concerts, improvisation theater and dance shows are envisaged. All free of charge and in an “inclusive, with a mixed activities chosen, so that everyone feels comfortable coming”.
Represent the neighborhood
“The idea is to have a free place where you do not have to consume to find yourself,” observes Antoine. The pre-en-bulle association Supports the project and the arch of the caves also participates in the festivities. “We have developed the idea collaboratively with the young people we meet at our meetings and we co-constructed it with the social actors of the neighborhood,” continues the vice-president of the Association of Young Grottes. And the latter is still juvenile, not even a cake candle.
“We created our association to give momentum to citizen projects. It is sometimes complicated to undertake something alone. Since October 2024, the population has had a first structure. ”
If the accent is given to youth, “everyone is welcome with their idea, underlines Yolmai, the treasurer. We want to pool our forces and create a link between generations too ”.
In July, at the end of the ring, the group of friends hopes to motivate other young people to recover the wood from the platform to build a boat and “represent the 1201” In the raft race.
