For the time being, the Chancellery has not given more details on the exact profile of prisoners.
One of the two most secure prisons in France
The prison of Vendin-le-Vieil, which was already with that of Condé-sur-Sarthe one of two most secure prisons in France, suffered work to further strengthen its security, according to the Chancellery, in order to prevent prisoners from continuing their criminal activities from their place of detention.
A millimeter wave portico had to be installed there. Caillebetis have been added to the usual bars of cells and hatches installed at all doors to be able to handcuff the prisoners before they leave it. The visiting rooms had to be equipped with hygiaphones devices, with a window preventing physical contact between prisoners and visitors.
In Vendin are already imprisoned Salah Abdeslam, sentenced to incompressible life for the attacks of November 13, 2015 in Paris and Saint-Denis, and the multi-wrist robber Rédoine Faïd, who escaped twice in prison. The drug trafficker Mohamed Amra, whose bloody escape in May 2024 has cost the lives of two penitentiary agents and who is currently incarcerated in Condé-sur-Sarthe, should also be transferred to it.
