A 51 -year -old man lost his life this Tuesday, July 22. It was around 9:15 a.m. when this driver of a heavyweight carrying gravel lost control of his machine on the RD1 towards La Roche-Morey.
The victim, who worked in a TP company in the department was also a volunteer firefighter in his free time. He was part of the departmental body of the firefighters of Haute-Saône.
The truck then struck a tree on the side of the road while lying on the left side. The driver was killed instantly, the tree having pierced the cabin.
A dozen firefighters mobilized
On site, a dozen firefighters as well as the Smur de Vesoul were mobilized. The gendarmes are also on site to make the first observations. An investigation has been opened and samples will be carried out on the victim in order to know if he was under the influence of alcohol or narcotics. The exploitation of chronotachygraph will also take place allowing to know the speed of the vehicle and the driving time of the victim at the time of the drama.
According to the first elements given by the gendarmes on the spot, the driver would have lost control a hundred meters before the shock, by biting the right of this small country road. He would then have tried to straighten the trajectory, in vain.
