A 38-year-old man gave his ex-spouse a stab in a street in Saint-Jouan-des-Guérets. He would then have threatened the police.
A 38-year-old man killed his ex-spouse on the night of Friday to Saturday in Saint-Jouan-des-Guérets (Ille-et-Vilaine) and then fled before being shot by a gendarme in the Côtes-d’Armor, we learned from a source close to the file on Saturday.
According to this source, this 38-year-old man appeared at the home of his ex-spouse. After an argument, the man fatally struck the woman with a stab at the level of the neck in the street of this town near Saint-Malo, in the presence of the two girls of the couple 15 and 17 years old.

The attacker then fled by car, chased by the police, to his home in Taden (Côtes-d’Armor), about twenty kilometers south of Saint-Jouan-des-Guérets. He enters his home and grabbed a machete and then heads for the police, according to the same source.
The man was known for acts of violence on spouses
After vain summons, the gendarmes make an electric pulse pistol shot which does not give a result. The man continues to approach the gendarmes and one of them makes use of his weapon, pulling three times and deadly touching him with the abdomen.
The 38 -year -old man of French nationality and known for acts of violence on spouse, died on the scene of fire.
Contacted on Saturday morning by AFP, the Saint-Malo prosecutor’s office only confirmed “the existence of an investigation”, adding that a press release would be issued on Sunday morning. According to another source close to the file, the woman killed is 37 years old and the 17-year-old girl, present at the time of the facts in Saint-Jouan-des-Guérets, was transported in an emergency relating to the Saint-Malo hospital center.
In 2023, 96 women were victims of marital feminicide in France, a figure down 19% compared to 2022, according to the latest assessment of the Interior Ministry published in late November 2024.
