Huawei unveils an IA calculation system rivaling with the flagship of Nvidia

The Chinese technology giant, Huawei, presented a calculation system dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI) on Saturday which, according to an expert in the sector, competes with the most advanced offer of Nvidia. This launch is part of Huawei’s desire to conquer market share in the expansion sector of AI in China.

The Cloudmatrix 384 system made its first public appearance during the artificial World Intelligence Conference (WAIC), a three -day event organized in Shanghai, where companies exhibit their latest IA innovations. This launch attracted a large crowd to the company’s stand.

Since Huawei’s initial announcement in April, the system has aroused special attention within the world AI community. Sector analysts consider him a direct competitor of NVIDIA GB200 NVL72, the most advanced system product currently offered by the American manufacturer. Dylan Patel, founder of the Semiianalysis research group, said in April that Huawei now had the capacity of AI systems likely to surpass those of Nvidia.

Huawei representatives present on the WAIC stand refused to comment when they were asked to present the Cloudmatrix 384 system. A Huawei spokesperson did not answer the questions asked either.

Huawei is now widely considered to be the most promising Chinese supplier of EA’s development, despite the export restrictions imposed by the United States. In May, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang told Bloomberg that Huawei was advancing “very quickly”, citing the Cloudmatrix as an illustration.

The Cloudmatrix 384 incorporates 384 of the latest Huawei chips 910C and surpasses, according to Semianalysis, the NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 on certain criteria, the latter using 72 B200 chips.

This performance results, according to Semianalysis, from Huawei system design capacities, which compensate for the slightest individual power of each chip by the use of a greater number of processors and innovations on the scale of the system.

Huawei explains that the system is based on an architecture of “supernod” allowing an ultra-fast flea interconnection. In June, Zhang Pingan, Huawei Cloud CEO, said the Cloudmatrix 384 was already operational on the Huawei Cloud platform.
