A fire broke out at the end of the day, Friday July 4, 2025, around the Mineraie stadium, near the Parthenay road, in the district of Cholette, in Niort. The origin of the fire is still unknown, but it would have started from the shooting field, near the place where there is a reception area for traveling people, which has around 150 people. The blaze took two of the three stadium terrains at two of the three lands.
The firefighters are present in number to prevent the spread of the fire, with a command post installed on site. The prefect’s chief of staff, Tony Chesneau-Lloyd, is also on the scene, as well as police commissioner Jacqueline Cazorla.
No hardware damage
There is no material damage noted, even if large flames are still visible on the blows of 7 p.m.. There are no injuries, said the chief of staff. Two caravans left the area for safety.
A helicopter of the zonal firefighter group was dispatched, sprinkling the fire using a tank filled with water, in addition to the work of the firefighters on the ground.
The helicopter goes back and forth to the Sèvre Niortaise to refuel. Above the fire, its pilots are guided by drone operators from firefighters.
In the subdivision near the stadium, residents are trying, for their part, to wet the vegetation. According to Tony Chesneau-Lloyd, the subdivision, rue du Maréchal Leclerc, is protected and does not run a risk.
