The Swiss labor market made a tread in July. The unemployment rate stagnated at 2.7%, as already in June and May, despite an increase in the number of unemployed.

During the month under review, the number of unemployed increased by 2,277 people (+1.8%) compared to the previous month to reach 129,154 people. Over one year, unemployment increased by 21,438 people (+19.9%), according to figures published Thursday by the State Secretariat for the Economy (SECO).
The number of unemployed corrected for seasonal variations increased by 1.2% compared to the previous month, reaching 137,049 people. The adjusted unemployment rate was maintained at 2.9% in July.
Between June and July, the number of young unemployed people, aged 15 to 24, increased 7.4% to 11,496 people. Over a year, this corresponds to an increase of 16.1%. The number of unemployed aged 50 to 64 stabilized over a month but has grown almost 20% over a year.
In all, 209,441 job seekers were recorded, 2573 people more than in June (+1.2%). Compared to the same month of the previous year, this number therefore increased by 30,302 people (+16.9%). The rate of job seekers maintained 4.4% in July 2025.
According to data available at the end of July, the number of people who have exhausted their rights to unemployment benefits during the month of May amounted to 3037, or 99 people less (-3.2%) than in April. Last month, 39,805 vacancies were announced at Orp (+0.1% over a month).
The reduction in the work schedule affected 11,940 people in April, 2047 less (-14.6%) in March, according to the information available on partial unemployment. The number of operating sectors concerned after a three -month input period decreased 8.6% over a month to 688 areas.
