Iran executes a man sentenced for espionage for the benefit of Israel

The Iranian authorities executed on Wednesday a man sentenced to espionage in favor of Israel, having accused him of having transmitted information on a nuclear scientist killed during the 12 -day war launched by TSAhal last June, said the body of the judiciary baptized Mizan Online.

The capital punishment for an assumed act of betrayal. The organ of Iranian judiciary, Mizan Online, revealed that a man sentenced for espionage for the benefit of Israel was executed by hanging this Wednesday.

“Roozbeh Vadi (…) was executed after a legal proceedings and after confirmation of his sentence by the Supreme Court,” said Mizan Online, adding that he had provided information on “a nuclear scientist who was murdered during the recent assault of the Zionist regime”.

According to the same source, Roozbeh Vadi worked within one of Iran’s “key and sensitive organizations” and his functions had allowed him to transmit “confidential information” after being recruited online by Mossad, Israeli intelligence services.

Still on Wednesday, the authorities executed a man found guilty of belonging to the Islamic State jihadist group, which, according to Mizan Online, planned “terrorist operations inside Iran”.

Iran second in the world in terms of executions

According to human rights organizations, of which Amnesty International, Iran is the second country in the world in number of executions, behind China.

Israel had launched an unprecedented bombing campaign against Iran in mid-June, triggering a war during which Tehran had retaliated by missile fire and drone attacks.

The Israeli offensive killed high officers, nuclear scientists and several hundred other people, aimed at both military sites and inhabited areas. At least a dozen nuclear scientists have been killed in the offensive, according to local media.

Since the end of hostilities, Iran has promised expeditious trials for people suspected of collaboration with TSAhal. The authorities have since announced several arrests for espionage for the benefit of Israel, as well as the executions of recognized people guilty of working with Mossad.
