First, the term “harmless cancer” has no medical sense. Cancer is a disease that arises in the cell. It results from an anarchic proliferation of these in a tissue or an organ. By definition, there are benign tumors, without gravity, and malignant tumors, which are cancers.
Only according to Doctor Marie-Estelle Roux, interviewed by our colleagues from Franceinfo, most beauty grains are harmless. The specialist, a member also of the union of venerologist dermatologists (SNDV) specifies that 20 to 30 % of skin cancers, melanomas, come from a degeneration of a grain of beauty. Conversely in 70 to 80 % of cases, cancer develops new stains on the skin. These lesions can thus be confused with beauty grains.
How to distinguish a lesion from a mole?
To distinguish, dermatologists have developed the ABCDE test. A for asymmetrical (is this task?), B for irregular edges, C for a non-homogeneous color, D for a diameter greater than 6 millimeters and E for its evolution (does its appearance evolved over time?)
If you have doubts or if you are faced with one of these indicators, it is strongly recommended to consult a doctor and/or a specialist, to certify the analysis.
