It is a tradition now well rooted at Skoda, the Azubi project leads each year to the realization of a prototype by a team of apprentice students from the Skoda Academy. In 2025, the 130th anniversary of the brand were honored with this Superb Break which has become pick-up whose practical aspects are dedicated to the small queen. We logically discovered it on a velodrome.
In 2025, the Czech brand entered the Giron of Volkswagen in 1991, celebrated its 130th anniversary. And to celebrate this beautiful birthday, Skoda highlights the know-how of his apprentices. From the 1930s, the manufacturer bet on the training of workers. And in 2013, a Skoda Academy came to life. A structure with a course which, depending on the specialty studied, can stretch over four years with the key a guaranteed use at Skoda. In 2014, the AZUBI because the AZUBI project begins giving an appointment to students/apprentices since an appointment to design a singular concept car with the support and expertise of the manufacturer such as Skoda MOUNTIAQ in 2019. A single exemption took place in 2024 due to the reconstruction of the workshops dedicated to these projects which were modernized in order to be compatible with electromobility and digital creation. Since then, it has left more beautiful.
A Skoda Superb transformed into pick-up

Supervised by the brand’s style center, as well as by its technical and production departments, this tenth achievement takes the basis of the flagship of the range, the Skoda Superb Combi. It is a team of 28 students whose youngest is only 17 years old – the oldest are barely 20 years old – who worked for two years, accumulating 2,000 hours of work on this assistance car for cycling races.
A subject that Skoda knows well since he has been the official automotive partner of the Grande Boucle since 2004 and has been noted that he will provide vehicles to the sporting event until 2028. Better than the car of the Director of the Tour de France, which is also a Skoda Superb with specific arrangements, this prototype whose golden livery, dark red and black takes up the original colors of the Laurent & Klement brand – of which we find the badges in the center of the rims, on hub of the steering wheel and at the grille – ancestor of Skoda pushes the cursor even further with the addition of many features Well felt.

A pick-up with a sliding door

Starting with a sliding door at the right back facilitating the installation of the boss of the cycling team. Note that for convenience, two handles are present on the opening in order to ease manipulation, the articulated arms being somewhat fragile (see our photo gallery). Suddenly, there are three on the right flank which brings singularity. While at the rear, the roof was removed with elegance, the brand’s designers have also put their grain of salt to guarantee the coherence of the style. The stern now contains a bucket like a pick-up. The ideal architecture to allow installation via a pair of rails of two bikes made by Skoda of course. The latter are thus more easily loaded or unloaded than if they took place on the roof of the vehicle as is the case during traditional cycling races. Because the bucket slides in the manner of a drawer with a kinematics which brings the bikes horizontally at the right height for the operator who provides him with the runner.

Evoked above, the characteristic colors on the body are found in echo on board at the quadricolore upholstery. The dashboard and the upper part of the steering wheel are also personalized. Alongside a third bike placed in the center, a Starlink system takes place on the roof so that the Internet invites itself on board with an optimal reception. We were able to drive behind the wheel of this prototype on the Trebestin velodrome which was erected in 1941 in the Prague suburbs. But rather than looking back, the students of the Skoda Academy present alongside all the Azubi because have already gone to the following project which is already well advanced. We can’t wait to find out, go to a year.
