Have you always wanted to get started for a cause that is close to your heart? Do you want to contribute to a project that has a direct impact on the lives of others? Join the team of volunteers from the Center for Action Volunteer l’Oditl and are part of an extraordinary human adventure.
Founded in 1982, the current one is a non -profit organization dedicated to the promotion of voluntary action in different sectors of human activity in order to meet different needs including the development of voluntary action, support for the community and community life.
Since its foundation, the organization has worked with the community of Vaudreuil-Soulanges by helping people in difficulty, families, elders, new arrivals, chronic patients, people in convalescences or disabilities as well as organizations in the region.
Annually, more than 30,000 services are given to the population. Among these services, let us emphasize food repair, clothing troubleshooting, friendship visits, collective cuisine, thrift store, tax clinic and medical transport, to name a few.
These services could not be given without the involvement and dedication of some 210 volunteers. As everywhere else, the needs are growing in the population and to manage to support all those in need, the current is looking for volunteers.
“Volunteers, we always need it, in all departments. That said, it is to medical transport that our need is the most glaring ”underlines the director general of the organization, Marie Legrand.
In 2023-2024, 315 people called on the current medical transport services. In total, 1,123 transports were carried out, which represents more than 4,230 hours of volunteering.
The medical support service service is offered to the elderly, sick or loss of autonomy, which must go to medical meetings in the region, but also outside.
“We receive, many requests for medical transport. People have medical meetings, very often in Montreal, and they cannot go there. So we have a great need for people who are ready to take their car, patient, caring people, who have listening, empathy and who will take care of the person to go to Montreal, wait during the appointment and come back “adds Ms. Legrand.
