In Greece, several places prohibited work outside on Tuesday due to extreme heat. The Ministry of Labor has notably prohibited building workers and parcel deliverers to go to work between certain hours. Temperatures could reach 43 degrees.

The measure applies from 12 to 5 p.m. local time, in Athens, the Ionian Islands and the island of Rhodes (Southeast), among others. The prohibition concerns in particular construction sites, naval repair sites and messaging services.

According to the Greek weather service Emy, the heat wave started on Monday and is expected to last until Sunday. Tuesday, temperatures up to 40 degrees are expected in Athens and Thessaloniki. Inside the country, mercury could even reach 43 degrees. Thursday, the temperature could reach 41 degrees in the capital, according to Emy.
