After the F40 “ghost” estimated at $ 2.6 million, then the F40 “Blue Chip” at 2.8 million, another F40 is preparing to explode the meters. Prepared by Michelotto, Ferrari Classiche certified and developing no less than 760 horsepower, This 1993 F40 LM could exceed 9.5 million dollars at RM Sotheby’s auction in Monterey in August 2025.
An F40 like no other
This is not a “simple” Ferrari F40. This model is the 14th copy of a very exclusive series of 19 F40 LM prepared by the legendary Giuliano Michelotto for the competition, with the official blessing of Ferrari. Designed according to the GTC specifications intended for FIA-GT homologation in Europe, it embodies the most powerful version ever created from the legendary Maranello anniversary supercar.
When the F40 in standard develops 478 hp thanks to its twin -turbo V8, This LM version peaks at 760 horsepower. A feat made possible by in -depth modifications: larger Behr intercoolers, reworked camshaft trees, revised injection system, increased turbo pressure … Without forgetting the increased Brembo brakes, Michelin Slicks tires, lowered ground clearance, and sharp aerodynamics with front spoiler, ventilated hood, and adjustable rear fin.
Summaries and limpid history
Delivered new at the end of 1992 to Walter Hagmann, Swiss collector and owner, among other things, of a 275 GTB/4 and an F50, this F40 LM experienced a busy life. Minor accident in Mugello in 1993, repaired by Michelotto himself, participation in various Ferrari events (Monza, Valencia, Brno…), and even a class victory in Modamiai 2025.
Ferrari Classiche certified since 2009, it retains its engine, box and original body. Only the rims were replaced by wider magnesium oz. The famous paper “red book” is missing, but a digital version of the certificate is available.
Just before the sale, a full service was carried out by Rosso Corsa Inc. in Florida for more than $ 67,000, including belts, filters, candles, batteries and new tires. It is therefore ready to take over the track … or enrich a very high -end collection.
Towards an absolute record?
Put at prices between $ 8.5 and $ 9.5 million, this lot 260 could cross the symbolic bar of 10 million with the auctions. Which would make it the most expensive Ferrari F40 ever sold, far beyond the classic F40s, even little kilometers.
Between rarity, pedigree, power and certification, all the ingredients are brought together to seduce the largest Ferrari collectors. And prove, once again, that the F40 remains an absolute icon … especially when it carries the letters LM.
