The Maryline Charbonneau-Democracy Saint-Jean team proceeds to two first electoral promises as part of the municipal elections of November 2. Political training first wishes to carry out an in -depth analysis of public spending and sources of income in the city. Then, the team will aim to reduce paperwork and bureaucracy at the Town Hall.
The Maryline Charbonneau-Democracy Saint-Jean team aims to change the mentality at the Town Hall and proposes to adopt, like cities such as Granby or Longueuil, a new political vision which “will break the silos”.
“We must work more horizontally to optimize resources, accelerate the implementation of projects and ultimately ensure that the needs of citizens and the criticality of infrastructure are prioritized,” says Maryline Charbonneau in an interview with the newspaper.
Expenses and income
The Maryline Charbonneau-Democracy Saint-Jean team promises an in-depth analysis of the municipality’s financial capacity, as soon as it is in office. City expenses and sources of income will thus comb end.
Seeing the last mandate as an “improvised political management”, Ms. Charbonneau explains wanting to improve the way in which citizens’ money is spent.
Once all the expenses have been analyzed, the results will allow you to cut where it is necessary to do so, according to the candidate, who specifies wanting to use the reports of the city auditor wisely in this exercise. In addition, she notes that projects to prioritize projects will also allow better follow -up of these.
Questioned on expenses that she considers unjustified, Ms. Charbonneau evokes for example the second repair of the roundabout of the Saint-Luc exchanger and that of the public square. The Congress Center should also, in its sense, remain a project emanating from the private, although supported by the city.
Bureaucracy
The paperwork and bureaucracy are two other elements in the crosshairs of the Maryline Charbonneau team-Saint-Jean democracy which promises to simplify the lives of citizens, but also that of entrepreneurs.
“If we want to accelerate the home for example, it takes a single window where the projects are taken by employees from A to Z with a tactical team,” comments Maryline Charbonneau. The candidate considers that a common phenomenon is established in Saint-Jean: the files would pass by too many different hands, and a clear orientation given to citizens would lack the procedures upstream, thus slowing down the acceptance of files, but also their realization.
The arrival of the new urban plan is a perfect opportunity for the party head, which thinks that the revision of related regulations must simplify them, which will facilitate the procedure.
Having met a number of organizations and entrepreneurs, the candidate explains that they are asking for more predictability and collaboration from the city. “We are in our DNA, we will be able to put this in place,” promises Ms. Charbonneau.
Electoral platform
Without wanting to reveal too much before the official launch of the electoral campaign, Maryline Charbonneau says, however, that her team is on the task to finalize her electoral platform and the priority of action for the first 100 days. She also ensures that he can count on the expertise of several of her talents to ensure this type of management.
