MPOX in the DRC: 529 new cases identified, including 135 confirmed (situation of July 14)

The Ministry of Public Health, Hygiene and Social Provident made public on Monday, July 14, its report on the epidemiological situation of the MPOX epidemic in the Democratic Republic of Congo during week 27.

During this period, 529 new suspicious cases were reported, 135 confirmed, and 603,338 people vaccinated to date.

The Ministry of Health points out that a gradual migration of cases is observed, passing from young children to older children, both in endemic areas and in the Eastern provinces, notably Kivus. The co-circulation of Clades 1A and 1B is reported in 10 provinces and 52 health zones, including five endemic zones located in: Kiri, Oshwe, Bosondjo, Opala, Yalimbongo.

In addition, the Ministry of Health says it has identified three critical foci with a positivity rate greater than 50 %: Sud-Ubangi, Sankuru and Sud-Kivu. He announces that a reinforced response and being implemented in South-Ubangi in partnership with UNICEF

Since the start of the week 01 2024, the country has recorded 90,994 cases of MPOX, including 26,613 confirmed cases.
