Jazz all weekend in Hermance
On August 8 and 9, Hermance has a rich jazz program to vibrate the village beach. Meeting with the organizers of this 33rd edition.

On the other side of the Vaudoise Riviera, another jazz festival comes to life this summer. The Hermance quays welcome a rich programming weekend on August 8, in a breathtaking setting. With a predominantly local distribution, the groups will parade between the stage of the beach and the most intimate scene in the Caveau. The organization survives the massacre of festivals canceled this year (Piz Palü, Time -fest, Funky Sundays) and has a free price to ensure the good performance of the event.
Financial difficulties for the festival
33e Jazz edition on the beach includes a number of new products. Starting with a large screen installed in the courtyard in front of the vault. Indeed, the small scene can only accommodate 200 people, but the crowds more and more exceeds its capacity: “This replay in live So allows you to benefit all festival-goers, ”explains Vanessa Horowitz, co-organizer of the festival since 2013.
Another novelty: the establishment of a free price. The festival has always been free, but the economic reality that strikes the organizers forced them to react: “We were attached to the principle of the free festival, and did everything to make it, deplores Vanessa Horowitz. But with the financial difficulties of festivals today, we were forced to react and establish this entry rate. The idea is still to leave everyone the choice of what they want to put, the entry price is therefore free. However, we recommend an amount of 10 francs, as well as a support price of 20 francs. We do not want to compel families to pay a fixed price per person, so everyone does as they wish and all help is welcome! ”
These various financial problems are explained by several factors. In a desire to make the event more ecological and safe, the organizers have invested in recyclable dishes and security personnel, whose prices increase from year to year. In addition, the support of the festival are less and less important: “The number of partners has not decreased, it has even increased this year. On the other hand, the amounts allocated are lower than in previous editions. We understand that they encounter difficulties themselves, but the reality is that partnerships are less substantial than before and that we are accused. ”
High flight programming in Hermance
Certain aspects of the festival are still free. First of all, the wolf fanfare will welcome the little ones in the town hall on Saturday from 4:45 p.m. then, the Obaya Batucada troupe will wander through the streets of the village and entertain the festival -goers between the concerts. Finally, the representation of Lemanic Jazz Workshop will be accessible to everyone.

The festivities will be launched by Jet Whistle on Friday at 6 p.m. at the cellar, for a crazy hour made of free jazz mixed with electro and “aquatic stories”. Soulbusters will occur at the same time on the quays. The vault will continue with the Kuma and Photon groups, and the beach scene will welcome from 9 p.m. Afra Kane, winner in 2019 of the Montreux Jazz Talent Awards, for a contemporary jazz performance with soul notes. More personal favorite, the Hip-Hop/Jazz Trio Captains of the Imagination will then occur until 12:30.
On Saturday children will therefore be able to attend the spectacle of the wolf fanfare in the Communal Hall of Hermance, while Obaya Batucada will welcome festival -goers from 6.30 p.m. will follow the performances of Lemanic Jazz Workshop, Ninanda, King Louis Swing Orchestra, then Amin Al Aiedy, charged with vibrating Connection. The Genevan billette lux will close the doors of the Caveau, then it will be Konkolo Orchestra, a big band composed of 12 members, who will have the honor of closing the festival in style.
