Israel is preparing his answer after Hamas said he was ready to negotiate a cease-fire and hostage release agreement in Gaza, where Israeli army operations left 32 dead on Saturday, according to the local civil defense.

(Keystone-ATS) An Israeli government official told AFP at midday that “no decision was made at this stage on the issue”.

According to several local media, the Israeli security firm must meet on Saturday evening, after the end of the Shabbat, the Jewish weekly rest.

The Palestinian Islamist movement said on Friday evening that it was willing to “immediately engage” negotiations on a proposal for a truce sponsored by the United States and transmitted by the mediation of Qatar and Egypt.

President Donald Trump said that an agreement could be concluded “next week”. He said he was “very” optimistic, while stressing that the situation changed “day by day”.

“We have to end it. We have to do something for Gaza, “said Trump, that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has to meet in Washington on Monday.

“We hope that a truce will take place,” said Gazaouie, Karima Al-Ras. “Bordering posts will be open and flour will be able to return. People are desperately waiting for flour and die when they are going to get their children. ”

According to a Palestinian source close to the discussions, the American proposal includes a 60 -day truce during which Hamas would release half of the hostages still alive, in exchange for the release of Palestinians detained by Israel.

Of the 251 people kidnapped on the first day of the war launched on October 7, 2023 by attacking the Palestinian Islamist movement on Israeli soil, 49 are still retained in Gaza, 27 of which were declared dead by the Israeli army.

Two injured American humanists

On the ground, the Israeli army recently extended its military operations in the Gaza Strip, plunged into a critical humanitarian situation almost 21 months after the start of hostilities.

According to Mahmoud Bassal, spokesperson for the Civil Defense Gazaouie, a first aid organization, 32 people have been killed there since the early hours of the day.

“The explosion was terrifying, many tents burned, women and children were terrorized,” Mohammed Khafaja told AFP, who says he has lost his uncle and several of his cousins in a night strike at Khan Younès.

Contacted by AFP, the Israeli army said it was unable to comment on strikes in particular in the absence of specific geographic coordinates.

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), an organization supported by the United States and Israel, also announced that two of its US employees had been injured in a “attack” against one of its aid distribution centers in the south of the territory, without their vital prognosis being engaged.

“The attack carried out, according to first information, by two attackers having launched two grenades on the Americans, occurred at the end of a (food) distribution otherwise,” said the GHF.

Given the restrictions imposed on the media and difficulties of access to the field in Gaza, it is extremely difficult for AFP to independently check the affirmations of the various parties.

The attack on October 7 left 1219 dead on the Israeli side, mostly civilians, according to an AFP count made from official data.

At least 57,338 Palestinians, mainly civilians, were killed in the Israeli reprisal campaign in Gaza, according to data from the Ministry of Health of the Government of Hamas, deemed reliable by the UN.
