DISPUTURES in Saint-Etienne, the French future championships have concluded the season for the best junior and hopes cadet athletes. We knew that the task promised to be difficult for the 12 Basque representatives. Many of them discovered the national level. This high level experience was complicated due to weather conditions.
On Saturday, competitions had to be interrupted by a thunderstorm and heavy rains for two hours. Result ? Athletes found themselves forced to resume their race or their evening competition! This was the case for the young younger Lilou Cardona on the 400m hedge. The beginner of Basque Country Athletics (PBA) ended her day at 11 p.m.! Not easy for a first participation in this national test.
“They failed nothing”
The Bayonnais rowing presented three athletes, including two javelin specialists: the Junior First Year Merine Choice and the Hope Julien Lhomme. The first finished 11th, very close to the Top 10. Her comrade performed taking eighth place in the competition (57 m 27), among the best French hopes. “This performance has a special flavor because I had not launched a javelin since the Indoor championships in March,” he says. It’s a good surprise for me, ”rejoices the one who will participate, the next weekend, at the French Open Championships.
For his part, PBA counted on two juniors accustomed to this national level: the perchist Nelio Jimenez and Pierre Anel on the 110 m hurdles. Small disappointment for Jimenez, who could not reach the final. On the other hand, Pierre Anel achieved his goal of the semi-finals to enter the top 15.
The Ascain club was aimed at a podium with Nahia Rodriguez in a long jump. The young younger first year held the second French performance with 5 m 93. Unfortunately, she failed in tenth place in the final. The young Perchists Iban Ricourt Legros and Thomas Marrin are content with a Top 20, just like the junior Lili Arocena to the weight throwing. “They failed nothing to reborn in the final,” regretted their coach Pierre Uranga.
